Sensory wellbeing, reminiscence and meaningful activity

SENIOR is a multisensory environment especially suited to older people, combining bodily comfort, sensory stimulation, reminiscence, memory and accessible activities in a calm and welcoming setting.

Its configuration brings together visual, auditory, tactile, proprioceptive and olfactory resources with games and manipulation activities that can be adapted to different abilities, preferences and personal histories.

Rather than relying on a single type of stimulation, SENIOR makes it possible to combine moments of relaxation and sensory wellbeing with activities involving recognition, discrimination, memory, manipulation and participation.

Comfort, proprioception and deep pressure

The SenSit® Straight sensory chair with SenSit® Puff footrest provides a comfortable and supportive place to sit while experiencing the different sensory resources in the room.

A 5 kg Ball Blanket® Granulate and a 4 kg KneedMe® sensory lap cushion provide two additional deep-pressure and proprioceptive resources that can be used in different positions and situations.

Light, colour and reminiscence

The Aura projector includes a liquid disc that creates slowly changing moving shapes and colours. It is complemented by a 1950's Film Stars image disc, providing visual content particularly suited to reminiscence activities, and a blank disc for creating personalised projection content.

A bundle of 100 fibre optic strands measuring 2 m provides a close-up visual and tactile experience with an RGBW light source.

The 175 cm water bubble column combines water, bubbles and RGBW lighting, while a 2 m RGB LED ambient light and the sensory chill-out cube provide additional possibilities for creating different visual environments.

Memory, sensory discrimination and manipulation

Three memory games invite users to recognise and match sounds, weights and textures, offering different ways to work with attention, sensory discrimination and memory.

A natural wood balancing tower, a screw with coloured nuts in different shapes and a set of tactile discs add accessible manipulation and tactile exploration activities.

These resources make it possible to vary the complexity and pace of activities according to each person's abilities and interests.

UV light and fluorescent resources

An 8 × 3 W UV blacklight LED bar provides a dedicated environment for exploring fluorescent materials.

The equipment includes 2 m each of orange, blue, green and yellow fluorescent cord, together with a multicolour UV spiral.

Sound and aromatherapy

The LynxPro RX-10 portable sound system allows sensory activities to be accompanied by music, familiar sounds or other audio content.

An Aarhus RGB USB nebulising diffuser adds an olfactory dimension, with four 10 ml essential oils included: lavender, basil, orange and rosemary.

Sound, images and aromas can also provide useful starting points for conversation, recognition and activities linked to personal memories.

Control of the environment

The bubble column and fibre optic RGBW light source incorporate SENTS integration and can also operate autonomously.

The SENIOR configuration includes an RF remote control system with four 230 V plug-in receivers for switching compatible electrical equipment on and off remotely.
