Fine motor skills allow us to perform precise and controlled movements with our hands and fingers. Grasping, pinching, fitting, threading, turning, pressing or handling small objects involve abilities that we use constantly in play, learning and everyday activities.
Hand skills also require the coordination of different abilities: controlling the force and direction of movement, using both hands together and, very often, coordinating what we see with what our hands do.
