Communicating is much more than speaking
Communication allows us to express needs, preferences, emotions and ideas, make choices, respond to others and participate in our environment. It can take many forms: a gesture, a look, an image, a symbol, a sound, a word or a more complex message.
Language adds progressively richer possibilities for understanding, expressing and sharing meaning. The important thing is to provide accessible opportunities to communicate, adapting the means and level of complexity to each person.
